Has anyone made a full frame

That looks pretty cool guys.

I have one question, since you both have tubing benders why did you decide to use rect tube instead of 2 heights of round tube with short vertical tubes between them? It would be lighter I would think. Or did you want it to look more stock? Are you reusing the factory body mounts, etc, or making your own?

Could you ask a frame shop if they have a schematic of your frame you can "see"? (phone pic!)

Rect tube for stock looking, when I get pulled over one less thing to be hassled about. Planned on fabbing new body mounts since most of mine are thrashed. It's easier/ less time to use pre made link brackets on a rect frame from ruff stuff, and maybe even kert :)

I have a schematic for my frame.

I'm also turning my frame into an airtank, or at least that is the plan currently. Some of the crossmembers will undoubtedly be rect. tube as well, and will add to the capacity.

Far simpler to attach just about anything to a rect. tube frame not that it'd be that terrible hard the tube way but still.

Lastly, i'm not interested in the monster truck look to much.

There is a place not to far from here that will galvanize an entire frame in one dip. Seriously considering that.

I would not recommend a frame as an air tank without a little FEA. It is already under enough stress. Adding internal pressure could cause failure.

Sounds like you guys just want it to look stock and you have your reasons. It will be one sweet frame. I just always thought it would be cool to see a complete round tube frame in a stock truck. Nothing that sticks down or looks like it was built under the truck (no cwazy monster truck frames Kert :thumb:), just something that directly replaces the stock frame. I feel like it would be really light and really rigid. But the rect tube will definitely be trick as well, no doubt about it, I look forward to seeing the finished frames, they will make the stock frame look like a POS and I will be jealous.

Yup that's the point!

Already done. Zero impact and in some scenarios will help.

One modification I'm still considering is making the frame a hair wider in the front to help accommodate a 6bt with an ac compressor. I've heard you have to notch the factory frame to clear the compressor. Anybody familiar with that notch?

Hmm... what are the chances of talking you into sharing any CAD files to go with my 14FF model when I design my 4 link? We need to make a CAD share post...

Its like 1/2 an inch that needs to be trimmed. Not worth doing a whole new front frame for that.

IF he plans to sell these after he makes the templates and jigging... then it would be worth taking into account because you don't want to be chopping on this beauty!

Wait wait, he is gonna sell? Why is jesse making one? :haha:

That is good to hear. I suspect it would work out nice until the rust fairies get a hold of it...:doah:

That's why i'm thinkin' of galvanizing the entire frame after all the suspension bracketry and welding is complete. That will force me to build, disassemble and then rebuild. I'm not so good at that kinda patience. We'll see.

If its only 1/2", i think i'm already there. The factory frame flanges are wider than 2" up in that area so I think i'm good. I'd heard 1" trim which may still be too tight.

Yep, had heard that as well. I think with all the information that i've gathered so far about that notch, i'll leave my frame as designed.
I was thinking I heard more than 1/2" was needed...got any installed pics to back it up?
I'm headed down that same road with my 6BT in the CC frame, and had heard that a Freightliner??? A/C bracket would move it up on the engine eliminating the need for notching the frame.

What about modelling the frame dimensions then having Throttle Down Customs custom bend some tube to that shape? They make all sorts of Jeep frames and think I read where Jesse Haines has them bend up his sub frame for some buggy builds. Friends Jeep buggy has a from from them back from when they used to be Advanced Frame Works.
