I went down to Summit and purchased a set of 2453 Hooker headers. While attempting to install them on the 350 I plan on putting in the Blazer, the headers turned out to be about an inch too short. I assumed that Small Block Chevy heads were pretty much all the same. The replacement engine appears to be a 1978 block, with head casting numbers of 462624. Has anybody had the same issues, or have any advice?

I think its just a matter of lining them up w/ the ports and using the corresponding bolt holes...I believe that front hole was used for accessory mounting brackets on some engines.

Yeah, look at the head with the headers / gasket removed, you'll see there's an extra hole.

Now I feel stoopid. That looks like exactly what is wrong. I even took the headers back to Summit, in hopes that they were just mis-packaged, but all of the headers were identical to these. I will double check when I get home this evening. Thank you for your assistance.

I've had really good luck with the Stage 8 locking header bolts staying tight...it looks like thats what you have...I did have to grind one of the lock washers a bit cause the weld bead where the tube and flange meet was too close to the bolt hole. Its still works fine tho

Confirmed...Went back down to Summit and repurchased the headers. Bolted up perfectly when properly aligned.

I do have the Stage 8 bolts and I see where the second bolt back on the passenger side looks really tight.
