On my 78 GMC, i hit a bump on the way home from work last night and the lights went all screwy! Headlights are still working but none of the other lights are. Dash lights quit too. Crazy thing is the dome lights came ON dim, but came on. ALSO, when you turn the dome light on, the one on the floor turns back off, but the overhead one gets bright like normal! So, bad light switch? or short circuit some place?

My headlight switch would get super hot and the lights would do weird things, hot enough it hurt to touch and I could smell the dielectric grease burning. Its a cheap part, wouldn't hurt to try replacing it.

Grounds, grounds and more grounds! Especially the ground to the headlight switch first. If the ground checks out, then replace the switch, but this sounds like a ground issue.
