That would suck, thanks for the heads up. Good thing I havent installed them yet, Ill have to check it out.

that is why i get paid the big bucks :haha:

Duece and a half Rocks it is.

I'm already this deep I might as well do it right. I made the decision. Im goin Rocks. I found a good deal on some 2.5's in Ma. Gonna check em out on Sat. anything specific I should look for? There military take offs.

Can I make a dually tow rig out of a 1/2 ton 4x4 00 silverado by solid axlein the front with my 60 and puttin the D70HD in the back? Ill have to ditch the sixer and tired trans. I wonder if the sbc350 I have will work along with one of the Turbo Hydramatics. I have a lot of time and money invested in these axles especially the 60 and would very much like to put them to use. or should I just sell them?

Thanks

B

Bein around this stuff for the past week and a half definetely helped me make my desicion!!!

Good choice. I decided to go rocks few months back. I think we will both be happy.

BTW, do not worry about the back-handed comments from the RockCrawlers around here....he he...they are just jealous, because yours is bigger than theirs!!!!!!!!:D

one crazy a$$ build. i'll keep an eye on your build. the 60/70 combo would be killer on a tow rig and good to see you went to rocks. let me just tell you, that the 44s on a 70 looks killer...i know, that's what i'm running on mine as soon as i find a tranny and button up the 'cage

Why not just sell them? The money you get could really help towards the build.

I just did! What a PITA. Used a Engine hoist. For a hundred bux that thing has easily been the best investment made in a while. It was like a fricking jigsaw puzzle, but with a liitle brains and a lot of coersion, they came off just fine.

No joke bro, my cherry picker has been my best investment ever as far as tools go.

Nice! Very nice!

Now I can't wait to see the rest of the truck...........completed! :wink1: :D

I have been wondering how in hell I was going unload these beasts.....

I broke my hoist unleading a fully assembled BBC with a th400 attached......

note to self....do not do that!

2.5 ton (duece and a half), M35 Military trucks. I think they are all tandem (two rear axles).

The axles are made by rockwell and are sometimes refered to as rockwell top loaders.

Finally

Picked up 5 sheets of 12" X 72" X 3/16" plate the other day and finished making templates tonight. Hopefully I will get it cut in the next week and have the frame fully boxed soon thereafter. I also cleaned up the rear rock and removed the drums (24 rivets) and painted it flat camo green. It looks mean! Ill get some pics of it later.

Slow but steady!

If ne1 wants to box there frame I could probably trace these to paper and send them cheap through the mail. You would mostlikely have to tweak em a bit but the basic shapes are there.
