Heart transplant time

No T-stat currently huh?

I found much the same with my 6.2 in my Jimmy (also no T-stat) it'd reun really cool for the most part.

Was wondering about that... My 6.2 runs at a pretty consistent 190, on the freeway or in town, with an occasional spike up to about 205 when I'm really on it.

Am I in the right range?

Sexy truck, love the scenery...and I hate you and your weather.

I'd move to the SW in an instant if the wife would do it.

That's some beautiful area you get to wheel in. That's the kind of wheeling I like to do, nothing to crazy but your still having fun. :D

kenny, I gotta cut the apron strings first and damned if they aren't made of flexi-steel or something.

Yup, your's is running exactly like my pick-up does...and my pick-up has a T-stat. My Jimmy never did and the temp looked just like Max's in the pic. The 6.2 uses so little fuel at idle the temp will drop to 140-150 even on a hot day unless it has a T-stat to keep it warmer.

Oh, it does have a stat. Whether or not it is working properly is another matter. Looks like I will have to find a replacement...

My 80 runs cool like that till you start to drive it a bit, then it goes up to around 95C and stays there.

My old 86 used to be on the verge of overheating all the time, no matter if it was -15F outside or +80F haha

Gotta' love how little fuel the 6.2 uses on the trail. I can run 3 days of trails on a long weekend and never think about needing a gas station (31 gal. tanks helps also). My buddy with a built big-block and 19 gallon tank is looking to fill up every evening, and carries a 5 gal. can with him.

Don't be a hater :D C'mon down and join us. The desert does get stupid hot in the summertime, but at least you don't have to worry about snow :wink1:

Yeah, I lived in San Diego for 4 years. I'll take heat over cold any day.

<---spent 4 hours after work today fixing and operating snow blower.

I never did show a pic of the completed install (well, almost - the wiring still needs to be cleaned up):
