Hey all, finally got the blazer rolling. But after 2 days of driving something ws bound to break.

Im thinking it a heater hose. But How the heck do you change It and what are those screws for?

ya... that style hose clamps are prone to leakage... dont reuse them, and those hoses look pretty old and cruddy... so replace them

changing it is relatively easy, go to kragen or where ever and get 3' of 3/4" and 3' of 5/8" heater hose, 4 new hose clamps, and some coolant if you dont have any.

cut one hose in half, drain it down to a bucket or something, repeat for the other hose. then just remove the old hoses, install the new, and refill the coolant system. Should only take an hour to replace

doh those hoses dont go into the firewall right? LOL its been a long day and im not thinking clearly

Once you get the clamp loose and out of your way slice the hose lengthwise and with an easy twisting motion get it to move. Be careful or you could easily damage the heater core. When you're ready for the new hoses i suggest rubbing some vaseline in the ID of the hose to facilitate ease of removal in the future.

Good idea. LOL know I just have the ask the wife to see if we have any vaseline:D:haha:

Mine were pretty crusted on there, going to replace them when I do my heater core(for now they aren't leaking and I've bypassed the heatercore). Can't see the pic, but mine had regular hose clamps on it... hopefully I'll get my membership back Monday

Regular ol antifreeze is plenty slick on rubber and won't degrade the rubber like a petroleum based product will. AKA vasaline.
I have a squirt bottle of vegetable oil that I use at work.
Has many home uses as well.
