I'm replacing the heater core hoses as preventative maintenance and am looking for guidance on where to look for a replacement part for the hose that goes to the back of the intake. It is rubber which is pressed into a metal fitting/elbow that then bolts to the intake.

My local NAPA doesn't show anything on their website (and they are closed right now). Does the dealership still carry this part? Was it the same part that was on the 88-94 350 TBI trucks before they went to the vortec?

Or am I SOL and have to "customize" it to make something work?

Thanks!

Well, I called my local dealer and he found a couple in stock at a dealer about 4 hours away, and they wanted $70 + shipping for it. I guess I might have to look at getting a new hose pressed into the metal piece because I'm sure that'll be quite a bit less expensive.

Thanks for the part number!

I think someone sold you the wrong hose then. I have an 89 blazer and the hose has a metal fitting with a nut on one end that threads onto the fitting in the right rear of the intake manifold and a replacement hose will be the same way.

What do you guys think about cutting off the end of the metal piece that is pressed onto the rubber hose, and just using hose clamps on a normal heater hose to secure the new hose?

Or would you just ante up and buy the new part from GM? This one did last over 21 years...

Why not just buy the correct hose from your local parts store? I'll just about guarantee they looked up a wrong year or had a mismarked hose it if didn't look like your original one. I'm sure I can get you a part number that you could have them cross reference to their brand if you need to.

Remove the fitting in the manifold, install a brass barbed fitting, run a standard hose & clamp.:waytogo:

Even easier to just buy the correct hose.

You'd be hard pressed to find a 1/2" NPT to 5/8" barb fitting I think.

That's what I did too. Even bought the cheesy chrome Mr.Gasket adapter in stock at Autozone. This was on my old 4.3 S10 TBI. Worked like a charm and was cheap.
