So what's everyone running? After searching around it appears both of these are popular for our rigs in regards to shackle clearance and not hanging down like an anchor.

The Hedman's don't say they're specifically for my truck but I don't see how they wouldn't fit. Another post said the Hedman 69230's hit the linkage on 700r4's but the Hooker 2453HKR appear to clear everything.

Avery, I've run those hookers and have been more or less happy with them they do come close to the shackle

The hookers come with welded collector flanges and fit fine. The hedmans only have the stamped bevel sealing surface.(unless you go with the elite maybe) I had the hookers and bought hookers again when I went big block. Hookers are good quality.

I had a set of Hedman's on a 85' Z/28 and they were pieces of junk. They hit every thing, and it took an act of god to get them to seal. Personally I have been looking at the whole Hooker system for my K5. Long tubes with 2 1/4 all the way back with two Flowmaster super 44's for under $500 total sounds pretty good to me.

I plan on these. More $$, but ceramic coated, much heavier guage tubing, and much thicker flange material.

Yeah I've seen the 830's, I think they're laid out the same as the 230's. I'm more worried about the physical fit at this point and I've heard the Hedman 69230 (or 830 for the coated) fit quite well but they're for earlier trucks so I'm not sure if anything is different.
I'm thinking about biting the bullet on the Hooker's and seeing how they go on only because they are listed to fit my truck specifically and I found a thread or two with other guys running 700r4's and they clear the linkage (which wasn't always the case with the Hedman's).

Avery I ran the Hookers with a 700r4 with no issues , just another conformation for ya!!

Trucks looking good BTW!!

Ok, that's a deal sealer. I'll get them ordered up tomorrow night.
You should see under the hood, I've been a busy little bee lately. I'll post pics when I'm all done with the before and after.

The top ones were what I took off my Blazer. I believe they were hooker. The bottom one was what I put on it. I dont remember who they were made by.

The top one is way heavier and hit the shackle

The bottom was lighter and went in very smoothly. Im getting ready to yank em off and get them recoated.

Hmmm, more conflicting information. It seems to be hit and miss for everyone when it comes to fitting headers.
I'll order the hookers and if they don't fit I'll go from there.

The bottom ones look like those Flowtechs they fit good but there a sealing Nightmare and the collectors on both sets I had cracked

Well the Hooker's are in my cart on Summit. I'll wait to order until tomorrow night in case I need to add in any other odds and ends for the other project I'm working on. Thanks for the help guys.

I think that might be what they are. They alot lighter (even with the coating) than the top pair, but this just made it easier to install.

As far as hitting shackles, nothing a big pry bar cant fix, it really isnt a big deal.

The Hookers are heavier because they have 16 gauge tubing and thicker flanges, and welded collector flanges, they are a much better header than you put on, and will seal better and last longer. If I were spending money to get some recoated, I would recoat the hookers. I had the hookers and they fit fine, cleared the thick HD shackles and worked great. I did have to cut a little off the upper motor mount(engine side), because the motor mount was sticking out right into one tube by about 1/8".

Could you take a picture of the fit around the motor mount and what you cut. And is anyone running the 2 1/4" Hooker Dual exhaust system i have a 350/700R4, and I plan on running that with a set of Flowmaster 44's.
