anybody got experience with one of these? i am using e7018 1/8" rod with the welder plugged into a dedicated 50 amp circuit and i can't get my beads to look even remotely uniform. i am haing trouble striking an arc as well. been using about 60-65 amps any more and it undercuts the metal. any advice will help. or direction to a good fab forum. thanks

I haven't been on them regularly but I believe Miller, Lincoln and Hobart all have fab forums associate with the company's websites. Just on Hobarts forum last week and had some good info/posts. Sorry, not much help other than that.

You're running way too cold. 1/8" rod should be at or above 125 amps. Easy rule of thumb is every 'thou' of rod thickness needs 1 amp of heat (for stick)

1/8" = .125" = 125 amps.

i'm assuming you're running on AC output? If it's an AC/DC machine try DC reverse polarity for 7018. It should run OK on AC though.
