I picked this up at the local parts salvage place it was sitting on the floorboard of a truck... so I have no clue what it came out of. I was looking for a cherokee shaft and found this one, It is all aluminum and has a splined end that fits on aChevy steering box and a double D on the other end and it is about 27" fully extended. Can anyone tell me what it came out of and if it is beefy enough to use in my sub???

O.K. so I hav'nt been on here for a day or two and the photo uploader is different and I am having issues posting pics from my photobucket account??? Any tips.....

Pictures work from photobucket , just direct url into the pic box if it doesn't .

The pic is a bit small to tell for sure what it is. It has the general overall appearance of an XJ shaft, but I can't tell for sure. The biggest problem you will have in putting it into your sub is that the column end of the XJ shaft is a double D and your column has a round shaft with splines. If you want to tell for sure, I have an XJ shaft or two hanging around here that you could compare it to if you want to.

Thanks Nick, I pulled my old crap out to see what I was looking at and it didnt fit so I had to go back to stock?? I know it fits the splines on the sqare body style cause i tried it b4 I bought it in fact I had two in hand the one we speak of and another and went this way instead. I guess you never know unless you try.

So did you finish your plumbing project??

I got the bathroom all painted:doah:looks good now.

Is the shaft in your truck bad?? If so, which end--or both ends?? Reason I ask is that over here at Crazy Nick's Used Truck Parts, we have unconventional ways of getting around problems like those without resorting to major re-engineering.
Yeah, plumbing project is done. I cheated so I didn't have to re-do the entire system. It will eventually fail, but I didn't feel like tackling that project that day. Something about sitting in a hole while sharing space with tiny red carnivorous ants while assembling fittings that I just don't care for. Maybe it's just me.
Good on the painting. I hate painting if it doesn't come out of a rattle-can.
