Hey guys. Bought some front power buckets out of a 99 Suburban and want to install them soon. Couple places I called, including the Dealership, were of no help at all. These Burb seats are a little longer than the Blazer seats, so it would require tapping two new holes in the floor for the front bolts and utilize the two preexisting holes for the rear bolts. I cant just drill holes myself because the bolt wouldnt stay in.....they need to be tapped right?

Then comes problem two. How the hell do I run power to the seat harness when there has never been power to the Blazer seats before? I have no idea how to do this, whether I need some other harness to plug into it or if I need to run something into a fuse or what. Im lost and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Ryan

You dont tap the hole, there isnt enuff metal to do it. IF you look UNDER your truck, youll see what the factory did. Basically you need some support under there for the new holes. Just get some flat 1/4 or 3/8s flat steel, paint it and use it to support the bolts/nuts. I would simple drill your holes all the way thru. and put the flat steel underneith and use lock washers and grade 8 bolts and bolt it down.

As far as power your going to either go to junk yard and get the harness and even still your going to have to splice into your fuse block. I would hook into a KEYED on switch, not CONSTANT on, so you dont run a risk of running batt down.

Look on the emergency brake bracketry , you'll see six little 1/4 inch spades , those are ground lugs , your power windows and locks are grounded there from the harness .

Well there are spots left over .

And look at the fusebox , all those weird wire plug ins sticking into the fusebox , those are the power leads from your power doors and locks . Some are piggybacking each other too .

Well there is extra plug ins there too :thumb:

Otherwise put a switch under the dash with 12 volts in and 12 volts out to a relay , run from the relay to the battery and the seats .

awesome, thanks guys. Im gonna tackle it when I get home from the Beach. Im gonna post up a build thread this week. This thing is going to be nice when I finish it.

I'm going to subscribe to this as I would love to put some bucket seats in my old pick-up.

i got full power driver seat grey cloth no tears and power lumbar only passenger seat grey cloth no tears and third row bench grey cloth no tears for $300 all together. From a nearby salvage yard and they delivered to me. They are so much comfortable than my stock seats just sitting on them not installed. Will post up pics and detailed instructions so maybe it can become a sticky:saweet:
