Hi All,

I swear I can't drive this damn thing for more than 2 days without something breaking or falling off...

So this morning my Driveshaft fell off at the rear axle. I had to remove it on the side of the road, lock the hubs and turn my 4X into a Front Wheel Drive just to get back to the house :haha:

Anyway, I noticed that my Transfer case is not that secure, actually when I take off I see the shifter jumps up about 3-4 inches then drops back down. Could this be a factor in the rear U-Joint breaking somehow adding stress when the T-Case jumps?

Also the mounts for the T-Case, are they technically Transmission mounts or are the T-Case mounts? Pep Boys has no clue.

Your u-joint failure may or may not have been related to that. Sometimes they break when they are worn out, pretty good chance the t-case movement caused it though.

Regardless, you need new transfer case mounts (and you'll almost certainly need new motor mounts too if things are really moving around that much). The t-case (and they can be called trans mounts too, the mount is in between the two) look like this on yours:

Make sure that you run rubber at both mounts or polyurethane at both mounts (we have urethane motor mounts too).

the trans mount are most likely the cause, but check the u bolts on your rear axle as well as the springs and suspention. I had the drive shaft pull out of the t-case on me and it turned out to be that both rear leaf springs broke allowing the axel to shift way back while having to stop quickly. wound up still driving it home in on the front axel.
