Hi - I need to replace my directional lever for 1991 Blazer. The lever is cracked. Although it still functions for directional and wipers, the hi/lo beam function does not work. When I pull the lever in, it is loose, with no tension. I assumed it was because of the plastic crack in the lever housing, so I ordered a new lever. However, when I take the cover off, I cannot see how or where the metal rod that controls the hi/lo is attached to the lever. I can follow the rod all the way down to the switch, which works fine. I have attached pictures of where I am now, including the new lever I have. I would appreciate any help on this, as I am do for state inspection next month. Do I need to order an additional part? It does not look like the new lever alone will correct the problem.

Thanks

Dragging this one back up as it appears you have no answer yet. Got your PM.

Unfortunately not sitting in front of my manual, and I can't recall how these work. As I recall the "tension" on the rod is provided by the switch at the base of the column, and without the rod hooked up, as you have noticed, there is no "springiness" at the lever.

Is the end of the rod visible in the picture the high beam dimmer? Does that fit into the underside of the directional lever mechanism?
