Just bought an original, unused soft top for my '72 Jimmy.

  • Very similar to Bestop but made by another company in Colorado
  • Was purchased from Dealer when K5 was originally sold.
  • Did not come with all mounting hardware
  • Very similar to Besttop
  • I have gone over Besttop instructions and think aluminum side brackets will work with this snap type top
  • QUESTION: how do I secure the top to the windshield??
  • No snaps on front of top
  • Front of top has a plastic molding with a groove on it
  • Think there is another part that fastens to windshield
  • Help!!
  • thanks

sounds like you have a 'fastrack' style top... Bestop made 2 types of tops... one with snaps and one with a fasttrack... That might be your best bet.

PS - currently installing a Bestop Tigertop on my 73 K5. Cant WAIT til it's done!!! :D

Correct - Whitco.

Do you know where I could find windshield channel piece? thnx

It is the Whitco, not Fast trak.

It is an original top from '71 that Dealer would supply.

It is an NOS top - never installed.

Just need windshield channel now - any help??

Actually Specialty Top Company (STC) made the Fastrack style top. Prior to STC it was Kayline. Here is a copy of their instructions for you http://yukon.b0xen.us/misc/stcsofttopinstruc.pdf - on fortunately STC is out of business so if your top was from them or Kayline, your gonna have to fab up your own attachment rail.

Here is a pic of STC's attachment rail
