Help with part ID....what is this thing?

It's off a homemade log splitter that my work bought. It was working great and then stopped. I found this little wire was not connected to whatever this is anymore. Tried to solder it but still got nothing. I believe it has something to do with the fuel pump but I could be wrong.

and this is the part I believe to have caused the problem. That small wire was attached but once I got the thing apart it wasn't attached anymore

Your coil on your asco valve is missing one of the wires. Should say what voltage it is on it when looking for a replacement. Makes a difference if it is an ac or a dc coil also.
