I saw you had posted a pic of your front end and noticed your steering gear box had the assist ports side by side. I have never seen this before. Who did the drilling? Have you tried it out? I like this option better then one under the other because you can go in as far as you need to with the tap without having to grind the tip down. Looks like the forward most port is in the typical spot and the rear one is what, about 1.5" behind it?

Here's the pic.

I think that's the AGR method...

IIRC my AGR 2WD box is tapped that same way, but I'd have to go look in a parts pile somewhere... :dunno:

I think you both have Gen 1 K5s, is this something specific to those gear boxes? I know the only thing in that area of the gear box separating the two ports would be an O ring or two- see pic; disregard finger pointing

Thanks for the good pics. I have heard that the boxes AGR use in their kits are 1 ton dodge units. They prolly tweak them some. I wonder if I tapped mine right where they did yours if it'd work fine. I'll compare your pics to my box and see what I can determine on where exactly they drilled.

That link shows the box being tapped top and bottom, this thread is about tapping side to side.

Yea I have used this method in the past. I should have taken the advice of my CK5 bretheren and went up to 3/8 npt instead of 1/4 like they suggest. I do liek this side by side though better. Easier to drill and tap too. Anybody have specifics on the side by side set up?
