wanted to post this in the vendor forum but no dice. i've got a suburban with the typical slightly dented barn doors. i was looking through my 4x4 mags and saw jeep corner protector panels and bronco quarter protector panels and thought to myself why don't we have something like that for our suburbans? a panel that would cover up to at least the body line and down and around the lower lip. rust repair and protection. made out of 16 or 18 gauge sheetmetal or thicker. bolt on or weld on. it would be pretty easy to fab. the install would require removing the door and the hinge. comments, thoughts?

maybe even weld in a peice of angle iron on the body line to spread the force of the blow if door contacts some thing when swung open.

I had thought about this as a possibility before, too. Now I've crushed and cut off so much sheet metal it just wouldn't be worth the trouble for me any more. Great idea for a lot of folks though. I would consider it on my Blazer, since I just got it and haven't smashed it up yet.

sorry i wonder if that would muddy things up. that drawing would be a side/angle view of the cover that would slip over the barn door or tail gate. i drew it referencing the barn doors on my sub, but throttle issues mentioned they would work well for blazers to. i just don't have a blazer to compare to. does that help?

for reference the black square is where the hinge for the barn door goes through the panel

I was actually thinking beyond just the back. I was considering cab doors and lower section of the body when I had thought about making some armor.
