Hickey catalog and parts

I haven't found their catalogs yet anywhere but still looking.

I have a few of their parts they've made.

Rear swingout tire carrier, 12 bolt aluminum diff cover, 14FF aluminum diff covers (4 or 5), t-case skid plate, a poster, some NOS pages from magazines.

I missed out a chance to get a roll bar from a Blazer once along with their own design aluminum wheels.

Still looking for the catalogs and a D44 aluminum diff cover.

Oh yeah, none of this stuff for sale. I have the covers hanging on the shop wall.

Heard a story on another forum (not even a GM vehicle forum) about a guy buying an old Blazer "with stuff" and later learning all the stuff was Hickey products and worth coin. Sold it off to a collector soon after he started inquiring and asking questions about it.

No. It was 5 years ago when he mentioned it on a Ranger forum and I got the impression it had been somewhere in the 90's.

Damn.

Be cool to see that Blazer he had.

Back in the 90's, VH was still alive and kicking. He didn't pass until '03 or '06, can't remember. Just would have been awesome to see the man. He ranks right up there with Bob Chandler as a few of my favorite off road guys.

Yep, he passed on June 13, 2003.

I'm friends on Facebook with a former worker of his back in the day of his Hickey Enterprises business. I got hooked up with him thru the Ron Johnson fiasco. Even helped him get his stuff from from RJ, too. Very nice older gentleman.

Hickey had ads in old 4x4 magazines but his catalogs are rare as ORD catalogs :thumb:

I just flipped through a June 1979 magazine and it only had a small ad for a front spare tire mount. I have seen larger ads with more products, any idea what years those might be? Mid 1970s?

I don't have pages of ads from the mags. I've got articles of the Baja Boot and the '71 C10 off road truck.

My brother's friend bought a truck that a lot of Hickey stuff on it. He slowly got rid of the stuff then he sold the truck. I bought the dana 44 lock outs off him.

One of these days, I may put the lock-outs on my blazer. For now, my old warns are holding up.

Funny thing is I bought my first Blazer a few months ago... It came with an interior spare wheel rack and also an exterior swing out with what appears to be a hing for a gas can.

I looked all over the net for info on it and could not find anything. this 86 Blazer came fully loaded. How do I find out if it is a Hickey Swing out? or is there a factory option for a swing out?

There was a dealer installed swing away tire mount for a while in the 70's and 80's. Not super tough but it worked.

The swing out I've seen, not sure if it is stock or not, just mounts into the sheet metal with some screws. It looked like it could easily come off.

It was a dealer installed option. Not a factory option. The dealer got the truck from the factory THEN installed the stuff.

Yep, thats how Hickey and GM worked it out.

Matter of fact, Hickey worked for GM back then. So he was able to pimp his own stuff on their rigs, while getting paid seemingly both times. :waytogo:
