High steer on a street driven Blazer?

Started getting death wobble on my 1971 Blazer (Dana60, crossover and high steer, PSC hydro assist) so I replaced the tie rod ends, set the toe, rotated the tires etc. Finally pulled the king pin springs and bushings out and replaced them with new ones. Test drove it after each thing and only noticed a slight improvement after I did the springs. I decided to put in spring eliminators and it wasn’t till I added two washers on top of those did I get it to go away.

So my question is, is high steer putting an extra load on the upper king pin causing the death wobble and wearing out the springs faster? Should I move the tie rod to the stock location to relieve the extra stress seeing that the Blazer gets driven on the street more than off-road? I’m mostly surprised that it took two extra shims on top of the eliminators to solve the problem.
Did U check the check the steering shaft and coupler?. I had a similar problem on my 87 K5. I changed the steering box which was worn and little change. I checked the shaft and coupler they were both shot. I replaced em with a Borgeson 939 and problem gone. The shaft was over 30 years old. It was well used.

My 90 3/4 ton Suburban had the DW even after rebuilding the front axle, new wheels and tires, new tie rods, steering box and cross over steering, even did hydro assist,
it wasn't as bad but still did it, turns out the cheap ass shackles were the issue, swapped them out and drives awesome. only cost me thousands when a $100 part was the problem.

I had the DW on my 3/4 ton suburban and after checking everything and changing the badly worn tires I thought it was gone but it happened a couple of times before I found the ubolts on the springs not tight enough.
Once tightened never had a problem again. The tires definitely did contribute a lot to the problem too.

i just changed my tie rod unit on my 60 front saturday and it had about zero play in the ends but was OLD as it was original to the axle when i got it way back in 2001/2002 and has had a life with my trucks so i figured it was time .

not saying everyone needs one but i had a ORD HD tie rod kit on hand and installed this on the front . the steering feels a bit more firm and less wandering :dunno: dont know if its in my head or real . but i can tell you this much i was starting to get some wobble on the road in the mph zone of death wobble when it likes to hit . now i have none trying to show up driving the truck on the same roads and same way as before .

so even if your parts are tight maybe they should be changed out for age requirements some times .

The steering shaft is a newer borgenson with no rag joint, the steering box is a newer ported one and feels tight, and the tie rod is a heavy duty one from ORD. Im not saying that any one of these things still couldnt be the problem but unlikely. I need to find someone with some different wheels and tires and try swapping them to see if that causes any different steering feel.
