I am looking to sell the front axle out from under our shop truck at Twizted Engineering! Gotta get some $$ for a new Twizted F9 Axle project (look for pics of that under the vendor section once we get this one sold!)

Anyways, it's got pretty much the best of the best in it:
  • Axle housing out of 1978 Ford F-250 (Snow-Fighter HD version)
  • Off Road Unlimited Forged Pass Side High Steer Knuckle (no bolted arm to come loose!)
  • ARB Air Locker
  • Yukon (USA Made!) 4.56:1 Ring & Pinion, Timken Bearings Throughout
  • Chromo shafts throughout with recent Randy's Super Joints!
  • New Spicer H.D. Ball joints all around
  • New Lockout Hubs / Wheel bearings just re-packed
  • Chevy 8-lug Hubs/Rotors/Brake Setup (will clear 15" wheels)
  • 3-link mounts (parallel link setup, fits 2.5" Johnny Joints)
  • Track bar mount (fits heim Joint)
  • Coilover Mounts (fit most brands of coilover / air shock)
  • Hydro Assist Cylinder Tabs on axle and Tie Rod (cylinder NOT included)
  • Tie Rod and High Steer Knuckle set up for Tie Rod Ends (NOT Heims, Tie Rod Ends are stronger in a single-shear connection, and articulate waaay more than heims!!)
  • Will include the Tie Rod, but would rather keep my Drag link.
I just went through my computer, and for me to build an axle like this with all these parts (using your housing!!) - I would charge almost $3,900!!!

I'm going to let this one go for $2,500

Call me at the shop at (303) 410-0802 or PM me if you are interested!!

I thought the Snow-Fighter term on the Fords only referred to them running D60 fronts?

I thought the Snow-Fighter term on the Fords only referred to them running D60 fronts?

From what I was told by my gear supplier (who I trust fairly well) was that the D44 axles that came in the "Sno-Fighter" package had a thicker-walled axle tube than the standard D44 in the Fords. I now know that there is another slight difference too, and that is axle shaft length - for the long-side inner shaft I had to get a Yukon Dodge unit that was about 3/4" too long, and cut it down a bit, because Yukon didn't make a chromo axle for it in the right length since it was somewhat rare. It worked great, but caused me a bit of headache at the time trying to locate one that would work! :doah:

in order to get the Dana 60 on the fords it had to be ordered with the 'snow fighter' package, but yes the 78-79 dana 44 housings are thicker and half tons
