Anyone had a chance to play with any of these new systems?

They are the replacement to the old Commander950 system, and looks like they have made some really nice improvements in features and useability. The dashboard software looks really nice too.

Avenger EFI - Entry-Level model with auto-learning

HP EFI - Mid-Level model with additional user-definable options for multi-stage nitrous, boost control, etc.

Dominator EFI - Fully programmable with a ton of inputs/outputs (user definable) plus the ability to fully control electronic transmissions like the 4L60E and 4L80E! :saweet:

This stuff was all announced at SEMA last fall, and just came out around March 2010.... it's still fairly new, so I'm not sure if anyone here has seen one or used one yet. I was almost 100% committed to the RetroTek Speed EFI setup (the carb look-alike), but realized that it does not offer timing control for the distributor. I talked to them directly about it, and it sounds like something that is not a high-priority for them. Even the old Commander950 had timing control capability, so it was a disappointment to say the least.

The Dominator EFI looks like a really nice integrated solution. I was planning to buy the CompuShift standalone controller for my 4L80E anyway.... but it was around $1500 with a display unit, so it's not chump change either. I am still searching for pricing for a complete setup since the Dominator EFI is an ala-carte product.....it will need a 4-barrel TBI, harnesses, and CPU as well as wideband 02 sensor (or two!). I'm guessing the complete engine & transmission solution will end up running around $3000 by the time all the parts are collected. :eek1:

Way back when I got my Edelbrock pro flow first gen I was looking at those types but didnt have any desire to have to use a laptop to tune it.Kinda wish I did though because its much easier to swap from one engin to another.

This EFI stuff is just getting amazing.

You can literally just throw any of these systems on the engine, answer a few simple questions about displacement, etc. and the system will self-learn and optimize EVERYTHING as you drive.

No laptop required anymore....though I'd hook one up just to watch the how the software was working and to see it change all the values in the fuel maps, etc.

Getting multi-step rev control, multi-stage nitrous and loads of other stuff is really cool. Even though these packages can get pricey, they are replacing a lot of other items that you'd need to buy anyway.

If you go the that website link above, you can actually download the complete software package for free... it's fun just to look around and see how many different options and settings are available. Really powerful stuff if you are willing to take the time to understand everything Holley has put in there.

I wonder if two throttle bodies can be wired to a single computer....:thinking:

Yep.

I saw that on another message forum (www.chevelles.com) .... some guys are also running two complete sets of smaller injectors and the computer can be programmed to handle that too.

Look for a user over there called "Doug F." I'm fairly certain he works for Holley based on his detailed knowledge of these new systems and some of his other comments.

what the heck are you building that needs more than 1000 cfm? and thats a TPI throttle body. The big four barrel throttle bodies probably flow more than that. If youve got something that needs 2000 cfm, im darned impressed. and want engine porn
