Hi All
I have a 1997 1 ton gmc that has day time running lights.Since I can't search on here.Sorry if it's been covered,BUT is there a -made in-- or a trick to shut the day time running lights off.THANKS

I don't have an answer for you but you first better check into your state law about this. Here in California it is against the law to disable the DRL.

I'm in NH.Disabling not illegal,but thanks

i had a 96 and i heard if you barely push in the emergency brake it will turn them off

Try pushing the dome light button in and out 2 or 3 times. Thats how my parents 02 avalanche is.

Yea I did a 1-click on the E brake. The lights did go out,BUT the dash brake light came on.I'd like to get-em both off :)

Is the the switch for the dash light adjustable on the E-brake? Try backing it off some, or shiming it out.

Why not take the bulb out for the DRL indicator if it bothers you? Take 15 - 20 minutes at most to do so.

Having lights on during the day is in no way a bad thing (unless you feel buying a 20 dollar headlight once every 3 years instead of 5 is a bad thing), and has been proven to improve your safety / chances of reducing a collision due to your increased visibility.

on my s10, the day lights are also the high beams

but yeah, dome light button about 5 times and you will hear a relay click

and one click on the e brake

thats it, unless you want to wire some things up

.

Just the DRL's.

After pulling the fuse, the indicator light will still be "ON" in the gauges, but the actual headlights will be "OFF".

I will tell you how to do it "right". Under the dash on the left of the column there is a box about half the size of a ciggerette box, One end flips open and there is a card inside it. Pull out the card. This will disable the drl's and disable the light on the dash. This is the best way to do it. Pulling the fuse only turns off the drl's not the light on the dash. Hope this helps bro!

Damn I can't kill-em.Get this I pulled fuse #15 labeled on the cover DRL/fog lights and the buggers still came on,Anybody got info ????

I know in my 02 Avalanche I had, there was a way to do it. It should tell you how in the owners manual. That's how I knew I could turn them off. I read it in the manual. I am pretty sure it had something to do with the dome light button. I know You had to have the key in the on mode with the vehicle not running. Just like to turn off the "change Oil" light you would put the ignition to "on" then stomp the skinny pedal 3 times and it would turn that light off. I have a 2000 K3500, I'll go out and look in the manual. be right back !

The 2000 manual doesn't say squat about how to turn them off except the e-brake method!
