How do people react to your trucks?

We live in a townhouse and all the kids love my "Monster truck" /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

The neighbors still don't like it much but don't complain since it's usually me that helps them out when their POS breaks down.

My wife just shakes her head at the general reaction it gets..."How can something full of dents, flat black, noisy and ugly get so much attention?"

the flat black color can be a little intimidating, too.

I agree...especially if the truck is even somewhat built. It says the truck is all business. I chose flat black cuz it hides a lot and is easy to touch up...

Well the one thing I hear the most is " How much did it cost" and the second is "I'll give ya $5 grand for it" And I tell them to double it or they know where they can stick it!!!

After reading all the other posts I think it's great all the versatility around the country. Up here in Montana it's common place for a "lifted, over sized tires, mud everywhere" truck. I get stares just like everyone else. I only have 4" of lift and 33" tires but the difference is up here in Montana everyone knows what they're looking at or should I say looking for.
They see my 1/2 ton pick-up coming and then they look underneath and see the 1ton driveline. Then the mouths drop.
The headers with straight pipe, nothing but cherry bombs gets their attention if they don't notice.
Yeah, did I mention it's 75% old Chevy's up here?

This year I take both of my girls to school and I don't have a middle seatbelt yet so I can't take my truck usually. A few days ago one of my girls was sick so me and my kindergartner took the truck. The next day she want to take it so her friend, Jarrod could see it, "he likes trucks dad."

Made me smile.

Here's my little old lady store - I was getting ready to load groceries in my truck and a little old lady parked next to me. She got out and started talking to me about how I got it so high in the air. She had an honest to goodness interest in it. That floored me. /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

All my kids love my truck! They get a kick outta the fact that they can almost stand under the truck! Always have to yell at them for running under it when they play games of tag! /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif Even my 1 1/2 yr. old daughter loves going for rides with me! I took her out in it last night. She sits there just looking around wondering what all the noise is about, with a little panic in her eyes. I asked her if she liked driving with daddy in the truck, and she says "uh huh!" which is YES! /forums/images/icons/wink.gif At the same time during the same ride, a dude in a Dodge RT pickup rolls along side us, and while driving, is hangin half way out the drivers window just trying to get my attention so he could give me thumbs up and SCREAM "SWEET TRUCK!" over the sound of my swampers and 454 growling thru the flowmasters!

Gotta love this thing! And for all the old folks it pisses off... LIKE I GIVE A RATS @SS! MUAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!

for the longest time my burb was 6 different colors and as soon as i painted it (cheap , sprayed outside , dark blue thing) some mean people tried to steal my ramsey!!!!! aaahhh, it had been in the same parking spot out back for a year , but as soon as it was painted someone TRIED to rob me. stupid people couldn't figure out how to get it out , all they could do was cut the power cables and steal my hook.

people out here don't really understand what a "nice rig" is. they think a 95 1/2 ton with a chrome light bar and 33's is "better" But i just love it when i get a thumbs up from another wheeler as we pass on the road..

all the kids around call it a beast or the monster truck , but i tell them its a kind , loving truck thats helps others. lol.

They usually just glance at it untill I start yellin things at them on my PA. I'm putting 33s on ther in awhile so the looks should start comin in. Every one thinks my suburban is badass even though its all stock and has an exhaust leak (soon to be fixed) because I can take so many people (girls) mudding with me. That's how you make friends around here. As my sig says "THE BUS IS F#$@ING AWSOME!"

I totally spaced this one out. Back in 88 I had a CJ w/ full width fullsize axles, (LONG before it was "cool to do" /forums/images/icons/smirk.gif )and 38 Monster Mudders. I had the top off, no doors, not even a bikini top on that day. While I was cruising down I75 headed to Tampa I had a car w/ plates from way up north, come up and ride my butt. Then it got in the left lane and just paced me, Then it got back around behind me, (At this point I am reaching under my seat for the machette I carried and handed it to the guy riding w/ me) I look in the rearview mirror to see what theyre up to and I notice them taking aim............. WITH A CAMERA! /forums/images/icons/grin.gif Now it time to have fun! /forums/images/icons/wink.gif They snapped off pics from ALL angles and I let them go around both sides of of the Jeep just a snappin away. My buddy is REALLY hamming it up. He standing on the seat, (@ 60 MPH no less) holding onto or leaning on the roll bar, and when they were in front of us he was holding the light bar on the windshield. Ill bet they ran off at least a roll of film on us.....Err the Jeep I mean. All I can figure is that they had never seen anything like "Ole' Yella" and had to bring back proof to their friends up north of the things we drive in the south. So some where up there is a bunch of pics of me and my bud hamming it up for the camera in my old CJ.

i dont think i have gone anywhere and not gotten looks from everybody.alot of people in parking lots get in between the other cars cause they think im gonna hit them.it makes me laugh.i think its my paintjob that gets people to look the most.

nice blazers grim! but how come yours has more dodads on it and not hers?LOL! i think she needs to take the old checkbook and go shopping for some goodies for hers so she can out wheel you! /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

I get a lot of stares and some thumbs ups and waves. As many people have said, kids love it. They always stop and point. I think a lot of people get a kick out of "THING" painted on the side of the drivers door, too. The THING is painted ultra-flat Khaki, so it looks just like dried mud. I always have a lot of people ask if I just went muddin' and when I say "no I just washed it," they act a little confused until I tell them thats the color. I really love it when 79Beast and I both drive our trucks to work. We'll park them with the front bumpers touching and people don't know what to think. You can always tell where we park beacuse there'll be some mud clods and a little gear dope on the ground where out t-cases leak. I've only had one cop pull me over and he had no reason to except he wanted to see if it was legal, which is was, and still is. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

mines not on the road yet and all i get is " is it ever gonna be done?" when do we get to go wheeling?"
what the hell is that??

and the number one overheard comment on my pile of parts....

"WHY?" /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif

the 81 on 35's got many looks at school tyesterday when i drove it for the first time. what i hate is how everyone jsut assumes that becasue of tire size it is the most bad machine out there. it bareely runs, is held together by bond, and is junk inside. the jimmy always has its "man where did you get those bumpers" or "no way- you made those your self?" i hate on the trails when everyone in a jeep assumes that i will have touble becasue of my being a full size or because im young. i had no breaks and i only have trouble in tight places and places where my 31's kill me on clearance. this time i was on the trail with a dodge and it got more "he's not gonna make it" or "every one slow down, here comes the dodge" that daw gonded truck made it through every thing that the jeeps did, and it is bone stock, not even on MT's. it did everythiong the jeeps with 33's and a locker did, but sometimes easier. i hatre how jeep owmers are ignorant towards full sizes.

Beacuse she's 5ft and complains about the climb into my truck. Heck her truck has running boards on it right now from when she was pregnant with our youngest. Still on there to help her load the babby into the car seat. While mine is set up for trail with lockers winches and stuff her's is set up for street. Her's has POWER EVERY THING, cruise, Working A/C, a NEW engine, a neck snapping transmission, Alpine Stereo with Alpine speakers, High Comp 100watt amp driving the fronts and a Fosgate amp driving the subs. 3.73 gears, LS rear diff. I have never seen another truck of it's age with such a full option sticker. There is only space for 4 more options. My truck only has 6 options and one was two tone paint, one was TH350 one was Rear seat and the other was hard top and 350 engine uuhhh ohh Tilt steering.
Mine has no A/C (but I'm thinking of fixing it /forums/images/icons/smile.gif )manual windows, Plexiglass rear window when the hard top is on, a crappy Audiovox stereo that the display is out and sometimes the left speaker quits because the volume controll is shot, Tiered old engine, shot exhaust, dents everywhere, no interrior to speak of.

I usually get the "Hey dude, cool truck, wanna sell it?" Then I say "Thanks, no". Then they say "Well if you do, look me up".

Then they walk away without offering their name or number leaving with the painstaking delima of having to find them if I ever do decide to sell it. How rude. LOL

Hell I have been pulled over by cops, other drivers, pedestrians, ect.. just so they could ask what I had under the hood, how much lift, where did you get them tires, to tell me how nice the Burb looks, to take pictures, and one lady actually wanted to pay me to give he sons a ride in my "MONSTER TRUCK" !! That was a laugh, but 15 inches of lift and 14" Boggers are kinda big !! The Burb stood 9 1/2 foot tall back then. I have given a bunch of people rides and actually had a military family day where I gave kids rides around a field.(Had to give the Battalion Commander a ride too) It was all fun !! I think I get more out of the young kids that yell out "Hey man that is a really cool truck" or "Nice Ride" ecttt... It's all fun !!

the one that gets me is when people go "nice truck, but i have a bigger one at home" especially when i lived in small towns and knew where every 4x4 was, and then when you try to pin them down about their truck-lift tires ect. they just kinda wilt and walk away!!LLOL

I love it when I go up to a guy or gal and tell them they have a nice truck and ask questions like what kind of springs, how much lift,ect... and that they don't even have a clue what they have, they just know it runs and turns heads !!
