Well how is it done in your family?
I like to smoke my birds.
Never had a smoked bird but we have deep fried a few times, damn good stuff...
deep fried rubbed in monkey dust...
allthought im going to buy a smoker next year...
What the heck is monkey dust???
one fried and one smoked
everglades seasoning... i think its only available in south florida..
Deep fried is the best turkey I've had..but this year same ol' oven roasted.
I use my middle finger like always.
doh.. me too
In the butt.
Hey, it had to be said.
2 deep fried, 2 deep pit cooked for 10hrs....
Never had the deep pit bird, Im going to have to try it sometime. One of the girls at work said she does the deep pit so it made the list.
I would really make good use of a smoker... but my mom bakes the turkey...
forking baked man . I prefer mine deep fried though.
In the oven after a good lovin.
How are you guys that are baking them doing it? We brine ours the night before and cover it with cheesecloth soaked in butter during the baking, periodically basting it.
ours were all dried... i mean baked this year.
Our baked ones always turn out good. Like I said, soak 'em in brine and then cover 'em with butter soaked cheesecloth. I still like our deep fried ones better but there wasn't enough family here this year to do a second bird.
I usually deep fry mine but this year Bojangles had a $34.95 deal on deep fried seasoned turkeys so I talked the wife into trying it.Man am I glad cause it was good and at that price its cheaper than buying the oil and bird ...plus I didnt have to cook it lol.
