how do you remove weatherstrip sealant?

I used the 3m super weatherstrip adhesive to seal some rubbers, but I need to take them off. So how do you remove the adhesive?

Lacquer Thinner, Goo Gone

Acetone or xylene works pretty well too, just make sure to keep it away from plastic!

This is where a solvent scale comes into play... Your best cutters will generally be acetone and lacquer thinner... Goo Gone and similar products tend to be not as aggresive and safer, and more in line with a mineral spirit.. Depending on the substrate, a soaked rag laying on the area for 10, 15 minutes usually yields best results.. keep it wet.

That being said, black weatherstrip adhesive generally needs a good amount of mechanical removal.. bondo spreaders, scrapers, fingernail, etc, substrate permitting...

Anti-bond is another option....
