This is where a solvent scale comes into play... Your best cutters will generally be acetone and lacquer thinner... Goo Gone and similar products tend to be not as aggresive and safer, and more in line with a mineral spirit.. Depending on the substrate, a soaked rag laying on the area for 10, 15 minutes usually yields best results.. keep it wet.
That being said, black weatherstrip adhesive generally needs a good amount of mechanical removal.. bondo spreaders, scrapers, fingernail, etc, substrate permitting...
Anti-bond is another option....
