How frequently do you kill U-Joints?

I broke an ear off my front driveshaft and the ujoint was still good :)
But at the same time ruined a ujoint in the CV side of the front shaft :(
lol btw.... How in the world do you change the ujoints in the cv side of the shaft?? lol I just sent it too a local driveline shop cause I couldnt get it apart :)

remove the caps from the ujoint and then you are able to shoe horn it out. :)

get the caps off of the ujoint and then you can shoe horn it out of the joint.

In all honesty we go through u joints about every thousand miles on the race car. This is with impeccable maintenance.

We grease them every time we prep the car. Just this year alone they were greased in the shop before KOH, at KOH after pre run and gear break in, this was about 100 miles. Then again before the SS300 pre run this weekend. And now they will be greased again prior to the race.

You have to keep in mind that we really do this to keep possible drive line failures to a minimum as none of the joints we have taken out were used up. I think a few of the shop guys have used race car 1350 u joints in their daily drivers and get a few more thousand miles out of them.

You probably have something not right but then again replacing u joints every 4 years or so isn't all that bad either.

Especially in a vehicle that does not have the stock driveshaft angles anymore from being lifted.. I replaced mine in the burb so far 3 times I believe, the rear most one with the conversion joint. I believe it was due mainly to inferior components as both of those were purchased at Autozone. I replaced it with one from Napa and have only replaced it once only because I was doing work on the drivetrain and decided to change it for insurance reasons, was not bad though. Hasn't been changed awhile now though, mainly because it just sits and collects snow on it, (not running) :(

my drivelines are 5 years old, no problems yet, and my angles are off...I run a bastard shaft in the rear 1350/1410, and the front is a 1350 cv and 1350 pinion. I usually put new U-joint u-bolts and grease them up every year or so.
