I just did the Dana 60 swap in my p/u truck and it has 4.10 gears. My rear 14bff has 3.73's, so I obviously want to swap them out so I can have 4wd again. How hard is it to do yourself? I called the drivetrain shop I've used in the past and they quoted me $850 (parts & labor)! This is way out of my budget so I am curious what it would take to do it myself, or if anyone has a good write-up on it. I've already put a locker in it, but never touched the pinion side of it. Also, where is the best/cheapest place to get gears and is there anything else I will need? Thanks!

That's what I wanted to know, it looks like it isn't too much into it, the hardest part being the pinion setup. So people here have done it themselves as well?

Yep I did mine with help from a CK5 guy. It helps to have a bench vice and a large breaker bar to crush the sleeve. The 14FF is probably the easiest axle to set up.

The 14FF is at least one of, if not the, easiest automotive axle to setup.

However, I really hate the idea of spending the $$ for new gears when you are just going from 3.73 to 4.10. I would really consider looking for a junkyard 14FF that already has 4.10's (very common) and the last time I checked the going rate was $100-$200 for a complete ready to run axle.
