I'm looking at a '94 silverado for sale.
It is a ext. cab 4x4 shortbed with the 6.5TD and 4L80E.
The guy says maintenance has been oil change every 2500 miles,
diff. fluid change every year.
Tranny recently rebuilt, injectors, glow plugs, and injector pump not very old.
New ball joints, tie rod ends, etc. up front not too long ago.
Overall the truck sounds very well maintained.
Now the bad part, it has 315,000 miles.

I know diesels can go a long time, but I also know they are expensive to
rebuild. I'm thinking that many miles I may be pushing my luck to get it.

They guy want $3400 for it.

any thoughts???

thanks

Can you check the compression?

315,000 isn't alot but I would look a little closer at it. How did he put those miles on? Mostly normal driving would be ok but if it has a 5th wheel attachment in the bed maybe not so much.

So what is that, just over 25,000 miles a year? Does he have maintance records? Have you crawled under the truck? Just my opinion but if somebody is good enough to change the oil over 10 times a year there should be other visible evidence on the truck of excellent maintance.

I'll let somebody else comment on the price but if you are convinced he has done excellent maintance I wouldn't let the 315,000 miles be much of a deterent.

I've got over 340k on my 86 Burb 6.2 and it is showing no signs of giving up. The guy I bought it from was religious about oil changes and only used Delo.

Edit: forgot...I bought it with 301K on the ticker.
