How to lengthen my e-brake cable?

I have everything setup, but the stock inner cable is about 12 inches too short. Can I buy just inner cable?

On my sixpack I needed a little extra length to make it all fit when I went disc. I used the original sheathed cables in back, and bought some ~1/8" aircraft cable at the hardware store to make the rest.

Mind you, this is on the mid-70's style, which goes in a U with the center up front by the pedals and the legs pointing back, then coupled to the sheathed cables back by the wheels. The newer ones might be harder to mix-n-match... but anyway, your basic Ace/TruValue should have what you need, including the crimp ferrules to make loops on the end, etc.

Are these something other than the crimp style ends?

My dad converted his to disk, was able to get the right length cable, but not sure the way the ends are attached is going to hold. My impression was that there was no way we could exert enough pressure to do the same type of ends that GM did, wondering if you used something else.

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe there is an application that is a foot longer that I could use? How long is the stock cable on a crewcab?

I think about seventy feet -- kidding, but not by much.

I crimped the ends in a vise, seemed to do just fine. :dunno:

Are they aluminum or steel?

Whatever cable my dad used already had a ferrule on it, but it was a stop for the armor, and that stripped right off, apparently wasn't crimped as well as the real ends. :)
