How can I tell by looking at my intake manifold or heads if I have the pre-1987 heads or the 1987-1995 heads on my 383ci? I am looking to ditch my Victor Jr. for a Performer RPM or Performer Air Gap and don't know which heads I have.

Mine are perimeter bolt valve covers, and they are tall to clear the rocker arms. Does that mean that mine are the older style?

I Don't believe that they made a Victor Junior for 87-95 heads, some people have modified the 4 middle holes to accept the different angles. Best bet is to pull a valve cover and get us some Casting numbers. Edelbrock did not make a Victor Junior for Vortec heads either, so im betting unless somebody has machined the intake you have early heads which would accept your standard sbc intake. I highly recommend the Weind Air Strike intake, recent tests have PROVEN more torque down low over the Rpm Air Gap and just as much horsepower up top (even tested it against a victor junior in a 7,000 rpm race engine and only lost like 3 horsepower right before peak power)...
