How would you build this?

Found this pic, and I`m REALLY diggin this flat bed. Gives me the most amount space to use to haul stuff that I may need too, and looks BADASS IMO.

14 gauge diamond plate for flooring? 1x1x.120 square tube for the rails and framing? 2x6x? for the rear of the bed/bumber?

u talking to me or ben? I already plan on doing that with mine

Was referring to NEK5's original post and picture of what he's hoping to mimic.

Cool as the bed in the pic looks, it needs a cage worked in with it.

Some sort of roll bar is definitely possible, but I`m not much of a wheeler, so I can`t really justify loosing all that space. Although, it may not be that bad.

Sorry, just ASSumed. :p:

Otherwise, the bed looks to be a sweet design.

Think I should have this Line X`d? The whole thing, or just the flooring?

I was thinking about building one with ladder type sides covered in expanded metal. I would try to design it so the sides and back could be removed and used as ramps to get a 4 wheeler or whatever on the bed.

Anyone seen anything like that?

Just did a little drawing in Paint, no where`s near scale, but just a rough idea. The "thick" black is 2x2x.120 tubing, the "skinny" black being 1x1x.120, the red is where the risen wheel wheels will be, and the silver circles being the frame mounts.

Are all the supports needed, the 1x1? Or would just the ones in the main section in the middle be appropriate?

Any idea how much this is going to run you Ben? Sounds pricey.
Haven`t gotten a quote yet...trying to see what I`ll need for materials first.

That looks a little over built to me, which I was hoping someone would say, and recommend a better way to build it.;)

I don't think you will need all that 1x1, seems like overkill. Also you should have another pair of mounts at the front

Sounds good. Those two mounts are the mounts for the blazer bed, the other mounts are further up in the tub, no?

I was saying use the four original body mounts, but also add two mounts behind the cab. So the flatbed has six mounts to the frame

He doesn`t have any problems with the tires rubbing on the bed?

I`m not much of a wheeler, but when I do go out, I don`t want to have a tire go BOOM!
