I will not be replacing this cab corner. And I reaaallly dont want to take the bed off if I dont have to. More interested in covering it up with some sort of armor.
This will be going on my m1008 with the saddle tank in place. It will have a slider step configuration under it as well. It will probably never get hit but id like to cover this mess up. Im scratching my head and over complicating it with dimples and lots of metal work. Anyone care to simplify this and drop some ideas?

"what i would do is" hit it with a hammer until the pieces quit falling lol then see what was left..... but probably welding in a new panel.

I like Tiger Hair as much as the next hack, but geez...thats a bit extreme!....

Looks like they just slopped it on and never ground it down--I know the stuff is like granite to sand once it hardens, you need a surform file to even touch it after it sets up some--wait too long and it hardens like rock..

Since I learned how to braze or weld I only use that stuff to plug a hole in a spot that you cant get at to weld a patch over first,or on something I do not care about and just want it looking solid again enough to pass inspection..or over floor patch seams..

It's not all that difficult to scab some sheet metal patches on a cab, that section is at least fairly straight metal ,a strip of sheet steel can be made to fit there fairly easy and tacked in place...

If you can find a salvage yard truck that has that section still intact,a cordless sawsall will make quick work of chopping it off,and you can trim it with a cutoff wheel at home to the size you need for a patch..

The body-line is the same as the bed, no? Got a spare front bed corner to cut off?

Ask Diy4x if they can sell you just the metal panel from a tube door:

Wow, I've made peanut butter sandwiches that look better than that!

I also like the idea of cutting the passenger front corner off a bed. That spot on a bed is normally pristine where as all the rest is beat to ****. I'm sure you could find someone with a wreck, give em a little change, cut the piece off, and booger weld it into your cab. If half ass looks full ass better than all that bondo.
