well im about to buy a new truck and as much as i love my chevy's i really dont care for the new looks. now i was gonna get a 2010 2500HD crew cab 4x4 with the 6.0 in it. and probably the LTZ trim.

it came out to be around 42,000 on build site, and im sure i will get it for a lot less but then i look at the Hummer.

I like the body style and the 4x4 capabilitys and the 5.3 option.

i was gonna get the alpha cloth or leather option with the roof lights and some chrome add ons and the sun roof. about the same price.

sooooo what yall think? obviously i will lose my towing capability that i do use every once in awhile. but i do like a change of style for once with the hummer,. and its different than what most have.

i know a lot about the internals of the 2500HD because i got to work on them for about a year when i was still at the chevy garage.

anything to worry about with the H3T?

thanks for yalls input.

the only way I would get a ht3 would be if I i got the lockers front and rear and the 4 to 1 t-case..

the problem is that = a capable rig and I would definitely take it out:D

What do you tow? I would see a h3t towing 6500-7k, keep the trailer light and use a weight distribution hitch.

For the truck aspect, no need to spend 42 k.. there are way to0 many nice ones on the used market for 23-35k

x2

i'm not a big fan of the attempt at a truck bed on the H3T (would rather have the H3), but I'd definitely get lockers and the 4:1. Has great approach and departure angles:D

that tough because i like the looks of the newer HDs but i also like the H3. if they would put a diesel in the H3 i would buy one in a heartbeat. i wouldnt want a HD without a duramax either though but thats just me. so if your going to get the 6.0 i would get the H3.

if it was the H2 it would be an easy choice to go with the 2500. but i am actually quite a fan of the H3, although to be honest, depending on what kinda drivetrain youre actually gonna get in it, id wait on the H4 :)

i do haul a few cars here and there with dads 2500HD and i do a lot of hay hauling and cattle every once in awhile.

i haul enough to need a 3/4 ton but not enough to justify getting a new Dmax

now i have thought about the used ones and that is a option

i would get the 5.3 and the low transfer case

tell me more about the H4 never heard of it

after reading your other post, i dont think the H4 is what youre gonna be looking for. Its supposed to be a jeep wrangler competitor. What the H3 was rumored to be before it came out. Although now that the company has been bought by a chinese heavy equipment manufacturer, who knows whats gonna happen.

For me, my truck dosnt tow squat, its not a work truck its a toy, so the H4 is right up my ally, assuming it has a decent drivetrain in it (would it really be that hard to put the geared hubs from the H1 on the other models????) and what its pricepoint is, it should be rather competitve with the wrangler.

but it sounds like you need a truck that can at least work sometimes. so id stick with the H3 or 2500, youre on the right two trucks.

the h1 products have no interchangeability or compatibility with the Hummer brand. Aside from a name and a grill trademark they have nothing in common.

for that 42k price tag you could get the used one with a d-max. There is no way I would spend 42k and not get a d-max. Just broadens your use of the truck as well as the trucks resale value down the line!

that is so true! most people are looking for the Dmax so i would consider used. you can find one with a warranty still on it to.

yeah i have been looking at a lot of used ones, mainly 06 and newer i just liked the idea of getting exactly everything i want in a truck

Had the H3 (not H3T) and 07' Dmax. Never towed with the H but the Max wins hands down! Much better driving and riding in not to mention power. LMM comes with 680 ft lbs. of torque out of the box and throw in a $400 programmer and you're at 800. You can tote the whole farm with that power. And hated those little windows on the H.Take your time and find the 2500 HD LTZ at the right price. Tow a 5300 lb K5 at illegal speed with mine and never know it is behind you.

Since your asking I say buy what ever you can buy on a 3 year max loan or pay cash for that will meet your needs. I would stay away from a diesel unless you really need it for pulling the fuel is always more $$ and the new ones don't seem to get as good of mileage.

it depends where your at, around here gas is more so diesel is a great thing to have.
as far as mpg its all how you drive. i have driven the new dmax and got easy 18 in the city and in the 20s highway. could have done better i think
the older ones do even better but keep a light foot and your golden. the big block is gonna be just as bad if you think about it

Well it's always more here by about ten cents. My old man has a 08 dmax and loves it but it only does about 18 hwy which was better than his 04 6.0 in the same truck but not by much. I am a diesel fanatic but dislike the new clean diesels for all there emission crap. Oh and if were taking about the 8.1 big block yeah I'm surprised they sell any of those gas hogs.

No more 8.1's after 06 in the light duty line ups

get an 07 classic or older Duramax, your best bet is to get a 07 classic, the LBZ was by far the best and most powerful Duramax built.....NBS trucks have the LMM its 5 hp more but gets about 1/2 the mileage cause of the DPF and Regen cycles (have to get rid of all that to make power)......and a 100% stock LBZ can lay down 500+ RWHP with just tuning.......after that your looking at rods and a turbo......
