A 4WOR issue had something on axles a couple of months ago and made mention of UNIMOG axles, they are called portal axles or something. Suppose to be really strong and really expensive.

I ever waste my 75 I'm replacing it with a Mog. Who can argue with 38's stock and a 20 speed tranny. Locked front and rear and 40k PTO winches. And they are cheaper than you would think.

Well check this address, I am driving the yellow monster in the second row. It has Unimog axels and the manual gearbox. The Mercedes diesel is swapped and now there is a TBI 350 and PG (yes an auto AND a manual in line!). The tires are 50" or something like that.
