I have never done this before, so how do I take the spring pack apart? Is that center pin pressed in, do you grind it off. Iv'e got them to spin but they won't come apart. what am I missing

Vice grip on the round head on the bottom ot he pin and appripriate sized socket on the nut on top.

Use some form of clamp to hold the spring pack together when you remove the center pin and ease the tension off the leaves with the clamp

some springs can be under heavy pressure when center pin is removed. but all have some sort of pressure. so yes be carfull .

If worse comes to worse u can grind one side off. But as was said they are under a bit of pressure. If ya want to be safe put a coupld of c-clamps on them for the heck of it

SWEET SUCCESS!!! All those tips helped And they actually came apart real easy. Got them all sandblasted and ready for some paint. Could hardley beleive how rusty they accually were. THANKS AGAIN

also on the subject of rebuilding spring packs. Where can you get those thin sheets of teflon that people are putting in between the leafs of their spring packs?

Thats a great question because mine were shot. I will need the keeper pin/bolt also. I figured 4x4 parts might have them

You should be able to get a centerbolt at your local parts store. They're pretty standard. They will be way too long just pull the spring pack together and cut the excess off with your favorite cutting device.
