So I had to swap to the flux core that I had. That **** sucks:mad:. Spatter everwhere, heavy smoke, slag that has to be cleaned off. I am gonna go buy a 10# spool before I weld again.

Now that that is over. Flux core is not that bad I guess just alot different than the regular mig wire I was running. I think it is easier to run flux core and it def has better penetration. I do not have any idea why but I followed the chart in my welder and turned the power down from 10 to 6 and it was getting as deep as before. When I weld on my bumper (to attach the hitch and stuff) I will use the flux core for the penetration. I really just hate the slag and the spatter.

That is all

Ughh dont weld yourself into any tight spots that need to be painted. My buddy ran out of gas when I made my flatbed for my toyota. Lemme just say that cleaning flux core out of all the little spots/wholes in expanded steel SUCKS.

Will it power wash off? Just thinking if you power washed the stuff off and dried it with a towel. Paint with rust stop as a base coat then paint over that. Just an idea.

I like how flux core burns hotter, that and I am too poor to buy gas. I agree though it is a pain in the ass to clean the splatter off in tight spots nothing a stiff wire wheel wont take off though

Don't quite now what you are talking about? I am gonna paint the box but I am gonna take a flap wheel to it and knock all of the spatter off and take the welds down and smooth them out.

The box was welded with mig wire the only thing I have welded so far with flux core is the reinforcements for the legs.

The 6 on the right were done with flux core

Here is a shot of the penetration. They are pretty equal.
