I was looking for a driveshaft that I could pillage for parts. I didn't find a suitable one, but I did find a 90 Chevy P/U with an SM465 and a mating driver-drop NP241. I ended up scoring both pretty cheap
The only thing I needed from the TC is the 32-spline input gear to allow my pass-drop 241 to mate to the 465.
It was a total impulse purchase, but I had been contemplating putting a manual behind my upcoming diesel rather than an auto for the greater durability and reliability. Plus, I will have a 81:1 crawl ratio
Now all I need to do is score a good used GV overdrive (don't bother telling me I could use an NV4500 - it's a good tranny, but IMO the 465 is better and the GV gives you 7 forward gears).
So, who thinks I'm nuts switching to a manual tranny?

manual is the only way to go. If you want nuts, how about swapping a nv4500 in my yukon?
