Ideal exhaust setup for 400ci?

The truck I bought is running true dual exhaust with hedman longtubes. There are glasspacks. The exhaust is a little obnoxious for my taste, so I might redo the exhaust post headers. Should I run a y-pipe, keep the true duals and just add mufflers? Sould I get an H-pipe?

Screw the H-pipe just get an x-pipe. They achieve the same thing but they sound badass and more "natural".

I would definitely stick with true duals and go for a 2-1/4 or 2-1/2 in setup depending on how hot the motor is.

ideal? put about 18" of pipe off the headers and dump it.

now if you want a nice sound. keep the true duals, ditch the glasspacks. you could do the H/X thing, put some nice magnaflow or flowmaster mufflers and call it good. glasspacks sound mean but they do get pretty annoying after a while. for a 400 i would run atleast a 2 1/2 pipe.

I have a 67 camaro with a 383 stroker, i run 3" pipe out the headers to 3" thursh mufflers then dump it before the rear axle. i also have electric cutouts before the mufflers. sounds mean as all get up. but its loud even with full muffler. but i like loud

Hehe my ****s loud too. Only 2-1/8th duals but 2 feet of pipe, through gutted cats and dumped behind the cab.

haha gotta love it. i dont like my thrust mufflers at all tho. they make the exhaust sound tingy. i am thinking of switching over to a flowmaster or a magnaflow
