whats up ck5? anyways Im trying to get some ideas for the inside of my truck?

I know i need a new dash board.
Im thinking about painting the door panels? has anyone done this before? if so how did it look?

im not sure what to do in the back of the truck with the side panels right now there isnt any side panels so i dont know what the stock looked like. But thats where I wanna put my speakers for my truck.

This is not a extrem off road truck this is my DD. but i wanna be able to have fun on the weekends.

any pics of the instead of your truck would be great.

thanks

I got pics in my webshots. I painted my doorpanels, kept em tan, but it aint quite as yellow as before. If you do it, dye it, dont paint it. I have a few flakes in mine, its been about 3 years since I did it, maybe 4. Anyway, its showing wear. Esp the door panels where your arm sits on em. The passenger side seems to be worse than the drivers, but thats probably because that door panel has been on and off about 10 times and the drivers side has been off once or twice.

These are my bedside panels I made:

I used diamondplate for my side panels pics are in my sinature. I also died the door panels and it still flaked off so I suggest buying new ones in the color you desire.

I'm in the process of painting/reupholstering my door panels. I took before pics, i'll take afters and put them on here. Mine are going from blue to gray though...so far i've just made a big mess and my wife is getting mad :D .

*edit* Here are some pics i took earlier. I'll dye it tomorrow, waiting on my vinyl to come in though so i cant finish them til the weekend. I know dyeing them sucks, but i cant afford new panels right now. Here is it fresh off the door, then stripped and degreased ready to dye. Sorry my dog made an apperance in the 2nd pic  . I'll throw one of my new steering wheel cover in too :D .

Is that the dash that came with the 88 blazer, or is it a custom install? I have an 87 and hate the way the dash looks. If it is custom, what year is it and how much work went in to the swap? I love my Blazer and want to get rid of the crappy outdated stuff.

I wish that was my interior. No, we were on our way back from Macks Prarie Wings in Stuttgart, AR where i had bought it. That is my wifes tahoe, but i was just trying it out :D . Its now on the K5.

BTW, the dye is drying on my door panels as we type! Hope it does ok.

Well, i just went out to check the paint/dye and i saw one of my dogs hairs stuck in it so i went to get it out with some tweezers and barely touched the thing and the dye just came right off  . I'll let it dry til about 10 tonight then bring them in. I doubt they hold up very well. They will get me bye for now though.

Here is a before and after of just the stripped down door panel. I need a new handle, but this one will work for now. I'll post more when my vinyl gets in and get finished with them.

Sorry to hijack your thread btw.

My door panels are sun damaged, kinda flakey at the windo level...Did painting them bring them back to life, or did the new paint chip off witht he old paint?

Looks good to me. Hope it lasts for ya!

I repainted mine in my 77 back around 89/90. They still looked pretty good when I sold it in 99. There was a couple of spots that flaked a little bit. I used some sort of plastic spray on the armrest and it held good, but wore through where I had my arm/elbow.

I think i know what your talking about. Kinda chalky??? Mine were still pretty hard and slick, so i dont know if it would help them or not. Well, i'm off to the fabric store...

Test fit of the vinyl. I'm still thinking a darker (charcoal) vinyl will look better than this light gray. My rubber floor mat and my seats will be dark gray probably. What do ya think?!?!
