So, I just picked up an 86 F 350 4x4. 460, 4spd, single wheel, pretty good shape for an 86.
Not knowing much about them other then it has a hi pinion 60 and is leaf spring in front not ttb, so there's that.
Apparently 86 is also the last year for that front end/body style. I originally planned on parting it out but am starting to wonder if it deserves to be kept complete. It appears to have sat for a few years and the gas smells pretty old fwiw.
Thoughts?

I don't believe that I would call it a unicorn as I remember driving a wrecker years ago that was an '86. Yes, it was a dually C&C, but there used to be lots of them around. However, I don't see very many of that era anymore, let alone an F350.
Don't see many of the '87 to '96 trucks either, which was the same cab.
I don't know what I would do. Never cared for the external voltage regulators on the ones that had them, those and the ignition boxes seemed problematic compared to the Delco alternator and HEI in GM trucks. The noisy power steering pumps were very common on Fords, from what I remember.

Maybe you can find someone who goes crazy for it and gives you a nice amount?

When I was in school I had a buddy with one, was a big block with a man trans. Best running stockish (it had a cam and headers) 460 I have been around. He would pull all of the other guys around the parking lot when they were dumb enough to chain up.

Save it, there's a core group of bull nose guys like we have going on here with K5's. That's a nice looking example. I'd reduce the lift and drive it. Blasphemy I know but I miss my 76 Ford with the 390 and manual trans. Thing was a solid truck.

The black one is @fourwheelerjeff s I believe.
Mine is white and stock height but does seem to sit a bit higher then I remember them being. I will post up some pics tomorrow, I have to many projects already so if I do not part it out it will be put up for sale.

Yup. The '79 and older Fords were pretty good trucks from my limited experience with them. Never owned one, rode in a couple.

Did it come with the Dana 60 that is in the right side of the bed?
Kinda, both the 60s in the bed and about 4 truckloads of mostly truck parts, tools and fab steel came from a building a local investor purchased. I have spent the last 4 1/2 days pulling truck/tool goodies home.

This truck actually had an 8' overhead camper on it and was full of stuff also.

I believe the 60 in the background is good also. The guy that owned everything would take stuff partially apart and stash pieces in different trailers/sheds. In theory to keep stuff from getting stolen. It took me 2 hrs to find all of the outer 60 parts.

I actually haven't measured it yet but I believe so.
It's 4.10s, the other one has a 3.54 tag but I haven't pulled the cover on it yet.
