Is my girlfriend screwed?

i still wanna say the 1.9 is not an interference engine:confused: Im sure ive replaced belts on them 1 or 2 times now in the shop and verified it twice im lost

Like i said earlier, they ARE an interference engine but depending on engine speed when the belt breaks you might get lucky and not bend any valves.

haha guess ill wait to see what he says. hope he dosnt do it and turn around and say the engines shot and still want the 400 bucks

Dude, i live in the same general area. There are deals to be had all the time. My friend just sold a 98 eagle vision with 110000, and a new timing belt. Everything worked too. he was only looking for about 1200 for it, and put it up on ebay. Sold for 1800 or so I believe.

Picked up a sentra beater for about 1300 a few years back.

Saturns are unbelievably good cars for being american (no offense, but americans build crappy cars). I should know, I have like 4. :)

I'm on Long Island, too. You can find pretty decent deals around here without breaking the bank. Especially if my wife gets involved with something I'm selling, then you'll get an extra $100 off for looking like a nice young couple (since I sold my Nissan commuter box, she's no longer allowed to know what the details are til the deal is done).

Where on LI are you? If you're in Suffolk near the LIE or Sunrise, I can swing over and lend you a hand at least confirming it's screwed or not, or if it looks like something reasonably easy enough to do yourself (although it seems like there are enough guys on here who know the job). I also know a great guy in Huntington who's actually honest and will give you an honest price on the job. If he says $400, then I'd guess that's probably about the average for the area.

PM me if you'd like. I constantly scan the classifieds, too, so I'll send you any good looking deals I run across.

I googled 1993 mercury tracer and got this in images:

im off exit 61 on the LIE figures, no long islanders pop up when i ask if any are on here! haha. Well i think her mechanic is almost done, so depending on what he says i may take you up on that offer. what and where do you wheel out of curiosity?

I don't usually hang out in the Garage... But I'm swapping the engine and upgrading to EFI in my K20 soon, so I figured I'd hang around and start refreshing. It's amazing what you forget after a couple years of vehicles you don't want to mod... :haha: :haha: :haha:

Not too many places on LI to wheel at all, and just about Zero public places legally. I maintain a 6 acre undeveloped/wooded work site with pretty rough terrain that I drive my K20 pickup through occasionally. My brother is a Jeep girl now and every time I see his POS YJ, it's covered in mud and he starts bragging about these 70% inclines he climbs. I should find out from him where he does that...

The wheelin I did that was actually intentional wheeling was in the woods around Pilgrim State hospital in my little Blazer. There are woods with fire trails and some fun places that aren't trails at all around the old power plant. The sewage treatment beds are fun if you like constant half-throttle in sand...just don't get out and have a picnic there. :yikes:
I won't wheel there in my Tahoe, though...don't want to mess up the paint. I found an '89 Suburban in there last year, too, and tracked down the last titled owner, who let me take some parts off it... I'm kicking myself for not taking the engine, he said it was pretty much brand new...he just dragged the truck out and took it to a scrapper...

My sister lives off 60 or 61, I get off at 62 or 63 every morning for work... Shoot me a PM if you want another set of eyes to check it out. :thumb:

well she got it back and it runs, and it is the 1.9 engine so i guess she got lucky. The only place so far ive wheeled is the giant sandpit off 112, and theres som firetrails up in the back of the woods, i guess ill check out pilgrim state. Thanks for the info, im always looking for anything around here i can get the truck in.
