In a nutshell:
slips in gear, shakes in gear, fluid level good, smells a bit burnt, 2nd tranny in truck 187k mi on truck. 91 sub tbi 350 700R4 3.42 31. Is it toast?

Story version
My brother took my burb to the beach and on the way back he said the truck was shaking bad as he got home. I drove it tonight and it is slipping and causes the truck to shake in gear. Neutral is better. Reverse seems ok. Fluid level looks ok. Smells a bit burnt. Could the lockup not be working and be slipping and getting too hot? 91 sub tbi 350 700R4 3.42 31. I just tore my rotator cuff in my shoulder and this is more bad news. What are your thoughts?

if that is the orignal tranny with 187,000 on it i would say it is time for a overhaul. That is a long time for a 700 to last
