Is new exhaust worth it?

I just got some nice headers (hedman) from my friend, he swapped to a 454. I was thinkign about taking off my stock manifolds and putting these babies on, but I was thinking of running a 3 inch exhaust, is that overkill or would that be pretty good? I have some mexican friends that work at an exhaust shop that would do all my piping for abouy $100, and ive seen their work, very nice welds. I was thinkign about either a Super 44 or Original 40 flowmaster, I guess the super 44's sound better.

Would I see a difference in power or no? Would it be noticable? Of course it woudl sound alot better, but I need more power, anything that will help me forget I am on 3.08 gears.

first its a super 40, im runnin 40 series on my truck true duals w/no crossoverand those headers. i ran 2.25 pipes and 3 tips. i LOVE how it sounds. inside the truck you can heard it but its not TOO loud but if i put hte back window down i can hear it reaal good. hahaha, i love how it sounds.

and yes its worth it. sound =good, the .5 mpg increase=good, teh decrease in mpg bc of putting foot in it more bc you enjoy the new sound = bad.

I would do it for $100. Thats a good deal. You keep saying more power and you have all ready bought headers. So, you might as well finish it off. 3" is to big, go 2.5. Its hard to really notice a change in power just with exhaust to me. If you like hearing the deep loud sound for the amount you drive it go with 40's. Too loud for me if I'm on the trail for hours.

$100 is a hell of a price. I took the burban I bought from my buddy down to get inspected today and wound up spending $320 on exhaust. He had removed the cats and for some reason the tail pipes. I had them throw in 2 cats and a pair of chrome tips angled out in the rear. I have the 40 series and it has a deep throaty toan without the fart.
