OK same year as my truck and it is not Diesel. The can/chamber thing between air cleaner and radiator support. Anyone else non cali have it on their truck?

yea it was sold about 6 months ago on ebay and is back up by another seller. orig seller said he repaired floor and it had been wrecked reason it was repainted.

But I do like the color topper should of been a flat color IMO.

It looks like an intake muffler but I have never seen one and I have been around these body styles since 1980.

And by that I mean the first one we owned was a 1980 C20 crew cab.

GM calls it Separator, Prelim Air (W/K46) I found it under Group 3.000 3-26 says:
1987 "RV" Emission Control/Air intake system (LB4/4.3Z,L03/5.0H,L05/5.7K).

Now all I need is some brain cells to figure that out. No coffee and no sleep in 36 hours.

I've seen similar on diesels, that's it though. huh. Can't imagine it's a cali thing, no emissions should be affected by something that far upstream of the engine.

Yea where I have seen it and on.

Call me not awake, but the only thing I see that is different is the clean compartment. What ya talking about?

Look at the left side on radiator at air intake hose looks like size of coffee can.

Ah ok, yeah mine is only the softball sized plastic thing that is only a few inches long. Might be something he made.

Just a silencer. GM's been putting them on gas and diesel trucks as mentioned above since at least '80. My '92 Blazer K1500 with a 350 had one of the accordion plastic things going straight to the fender while others I saw in other non-Cali states had a similar box/tube/thing right at the fender.

Just more BS from GM that no one really needs. Best thing to do with those is remove them and use something else to get cold air between the fender/core support/whatever and the air intake.
