Is this a dana 44? PIC

Looked under my 89 and saw this http://home.comcast.net/~inscape/blazer/front_axle.JPG It also has a 12 bolt in the back. I'm assuming whoever had it wanted different gears and just swapped axles? What's the easiest way to check gear ratio?

yep looks like a 44
as for checking the gear ratio, pull the cover then write down the numbers on the ring gear, and post em here, and someone will tell ya.

Yep.....that is defiantely a D44. As for the gear ratio, you might get lucky and have the little metal tags still attached to each diff.....but if not, then do what smprider suggested above. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

without pulling the cover, you should be able to jack up the front and count the number of driveshaft rotations compared to tire rotations to get an estimate of the ratio. marking the driveshaft and tires helps as does having a buddy there.
