is this k5 worth 35k?

My 79 K10 had this. Dead serious. 34 tooth ring and 10 tooth pinion. Rear axle only though. Front axle was 3.42.

I've read in a Chilton's manual that most 4x4 axles from the factory are not "exact matches"...as an example, they show a 4x4 with 4:10 axle ratios,in reality, the front axle has 4:09 ratio, due to differences in ring gear sizes its not possible to get them matched perfectly..but "close enough" so no ill effects will be noticed...

yep .0x difference no biggy .

but say 4.10 to 4.56 or 3.08 to 3.42 not good at all. even more split is worse yet .

unless you do the math and tire size difference and have drive line built for it like mud drag guys do with buggys for mud drags .

Most gear companies say you can get away with about a 10% difference.

So 4.10 could almost get away with 4.56.

In the real world it seems like 5% is a better number to live by.

Biggest difference I ever saw that made no difference at all was 5.29 to a 5.38 Couldn't even tell

While totally not worth that much keep in mind this dealership is like 5 min away from the Microsoft campus and sells Ferraris and Lambos... Also the eastern side of the mountains(where it came from) has considerably less humidity, its desert, so rust is much less of an issue.

Hell to the no. I'd rather buy a brand, new 4x4 truck before this thing...especially since it's not pre-75. It's clean, but definitely not perfect.
