I just replaced the alternator on my 99 burb and it's a 140amp from the factory (heated power seats take a lot of amps). I got the replacement from Autozone for $70. It has a multi groove pulley and it mounts different then yours but if you're going to modify stuff anyway. I plan on putting one of these in the K5.
Costco has red top Optimas for $99, that's the best price I've seen anywhere. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

I did almost the same thing but for my onboard welder. The way I did mine I reused the same belt.

Have you had any probles with slipping belt? There's a good reason why alternator belt goes almost a half around the alternator pulley. When it's giving out full amperage, there is a lot of resistance on the alt.
