...for your further entertainment. Not only am I a nut about movies, I apparently have some CD issues as well.

Buddy of mine called me a "media whore" the other day. I don't know why :whistling:

Had an incident involving drywall dust in the media room :doah:, so I'm taking the opportunity to get all the CD's and DVD's off the shelves and dust them. Grrr.

Since someone will compare it to a Coke can lift, the water bottles are holding the CD's up, as otherwise they want to slip off the table. The table is a family heirloom; my dad made it when I was a kid ... 1.5" solid oak, and bloody HEAVY! =)) The chairs are full-on King Arthur Round Table style, and weigh more than Grandma =))

Those are just DVD's in disguse, aren't they?

Holy crap, I thought I had alot at 600 or so. (I don't have hardly any DVD's),and yes, they do need dusted. Mabey when I move next year.

So that collection is cataloged, right, you know what you have?

Nice table and chairs especially. I like those.

Well, the one thing with CD's is they take less disk storage than a DVD... ~3000 discs take up ~235GB, versus the ~4GB per disc for DVD's (even with e.g. DVDShrink.) And yeah, there's a SQL database for both the music and the movies, so I can find stuff, and play it on any of the computers.

The table and chairs are ... simple, elegant, and back-breaking to move =)) But they are nice, and being home-made by pops and all makes 'em special.

As for dusting, one hint: Don't cut painted drywall right next to the shelves. :doah: (I was putting a door into an existing opening and had to widen it by ~1/2". Next time I'm putting dropcloths on EVERYTHING.)

Ehh. The online version doesn't quite match the physical discs, as I have some vinyl converted to MP3 that I can't get on CD, etc ... but a quick estimate says ~2900 there.

Well, I've bought many of them used ... and I started when CD's were juuuust becoming cool (you shoulda seen my record collection back then :haha: ) ... damn, I must be old

But yeah, I don't wanna think about the $$. Still, what do the rest of y'all have tied up in, say, your trucks, and your gun collection? :deal:

(Another hobby I'd like to take up but can't afford ... guns, that is. I have enough trucks to drain my wallet =))

Ha. I went and measured with a tape, guessing ~30 discs to the linear foot.

Well, I don't listen to all of them at once, no :D ... and some are the wife's, so we have screaming heavy metal and 150BPM techno next to easy listening, country, and ... well, normal music, whatever that is :D

I've got everything from Debbie Gibson to MegaDeath to Ani Difranco to Confederate Railroad to Chemical Brothers to The Brothers Four. And there's a time for them all.
