Just ordered up a welding cart

Ok, cart came in and I couldn't be happier. On the pro side, it is pretty substantial, went together in a jiffy, has rubber wheels front and back instead of plastic, has a front handle to push it around which many did not have, and the price was fantastic. On the con side, the front casters don't lock but I figure if I need to i can swap locking ones in easily, the chains that hold the tank are kind of cheap but do the job, the side of the top shelf blocks the side of the welder from opening, and it barely fit my Millermatic 175. Any bigger and it would have been a problem. Here we go:

the inconvenience of refilling every 8 minutes would drive me batty... and the running out in the middle of a project...

yeah, I'm sure. I obviously haven't had mine long enough to know how much I'll go through. I've got a 125 bottle, so I should be good to go.

that'll last a LONG time for home use.. i run a 60 and it does pretty well, tho i'd like an 80..

My bottle looks exactly tge sanr. Its not too bad really. If i was welding a $hit ton id get a bigger one.

The bottle lasts a good while for me. I don't weld a lot so it is perfect. If I need more, I just hit up Heath's in Dublin and get it refilled.

Cart looks like it will work out nicely for you. I wouldn't bend your feed line over that hard where it comes out of the box. You could end up ruining the liner pretty quickly.

Good looking cart. I wish I would have just bought one. Among other less than good ideas I had when I fabbed it up, I thought it'd be a good idea to use go-kart slicks for wheels. Well, the slicks I had from my old kart racing days wouldn't hold air at all, so I ended up buying new ones. Well, anyone who's been around slicks and soft spongy tires know that they don't hold air like regular tires do. I've got to check the damn tire pressure on my welding cart pretty much every time I move it. :doah:

Yeah, I need to add a couple more hooks so I can drape the cords in a lot bigger loops. The provided hooks are just flat stock bent into 2 90 degree bends. I should be able to fab up a couple more.

Nice lookin cart indeed. I want a taller cart myself. SOmeday I'll get around to building one.

That one looks like the harbor freight cart with a handle on it. We have one at work I beefed up to drag our plasma cutter around on. Not the best thing but it gets the job done for cheap.

I built mine but I hear ya' on material, it adds up faster than you think. I still find it hard to believe you can't find a good metal supplier up north where you're at. We order a lot of material for work from a shop up there and even with shipping it's cheaper than local places.

I built my cart as a first project with the new welder, good to get it all dialed in on something that doesn't really matter.

Kept thinking you have a bigger welder.

Is that what you used on your knuckles?

Yep, it's a Hobart Handler 187. Rated at 5/16" plate single pass. I've never wished I had a bigger welder for anything truck related. Even with those knuckles I didn't have it maxxed out and it had more than enough heat.
