Hello everyone I would like to put new springs in the rear of my K30 the old lift has seen better days. My question is what can I do I want to not use a block with the lift springs (current setup). I would need 12 inches of lift but I cant find any 56 inch springs that tall. I dont wanna flip the shackles either. I have been told to just move the rear hangers foward on the frame and use a 3/4 ton spring. Will this work with out any problem?

3/4 ton trucks would generally also have 56" long springs, it's the 1/2 tons that had 52" rear springs. If you're worried about load ratings, any lifted spring is aftermarket anyway and probably a higher spring rate than stock.

Yes you could move the rear spring hanger and use a 52" long spring.

Why don't you want to do a shackle flip?

I am I little unsure of the shackle flip I have an ORD one on my K5 that I am very happy with. The K30 is still sort of a work truck that I load up once in a while and also tow with it from time to time. With the flip in my blazer it seems pretty flexy I am unsure of how it will be with a trailer or a bit of weight in the bed of the K30.

Shackle flips have been discussed tons on this site, they don't affect towing. A lift certainly can but the flip itself doesn't really affect towing characteristics.

Just one of those myths that circle through the internet like beadlocks being illegal.

Realize that your two comparisons are a 1/2 ton Blazer with a shackle flip and a 1 ton truck with a an 8-10" lift spring in the rear. The stock Blazer springs will be WAY softer than those lift springs (possible by a factor of 2-3).

what about having a set of custom springs made. I've seen quite a few people on here showing theirs. some also mention the longer 63 or so inch ones.

I have herd the stories about the shackle flips. I agree with you that they do not cause any problems as far as towing and heavy loads ect. It just seems with such a tall spring it is very flexy. I have a 10 inch spring with the shackle flip on my K5 and it rides really well and does good off road. I have never had a problem with it even at 65-70 on the highway. I would just like the keep the regular setup on the K30.

I would love a set of custom springs. Just lookn to see what else I could do. Thanks tho that is prob the best way to get what I want.

If you're dead set on rear lift springs, Alcans or Deaver will be your best bet.

Ready made springs by lift manufacturers like Skyjacker will only net you 6" as the tallest 56" rear springs any have to offer.

Any taller than that, you're gonna have to go custom.
